Being present does not always mean thinking present. There is a simple awareness we have that is before thought or emotion, and allows us to see both. By remaining in this place of mindfulness, we are betters suited to gain self knowledge and understanding of others. This is the act of meditation. There is no demand to do so while lying or sitting down, though this is a good place to start. Meditation, or mindfulness is awareness of the present moment and thus all movement or stillness is unconditionally perceived. Therefore, be mindful of the present in action and inaction.
