Just picked up a few interesting books from Barnes and Noble:
Eastern Body, Western Mind, by Anodea Judith. This one looks amazing! A large volume that takes you through personal growth and evolution, via the spiritual chakra systems. I’m very excited to learn and read from this.
Mind in the Balance, by B. Alan Wallace. Been looking forward to this one for a while. The book is crisp and new, and has a nice font too! Aside from that, it explores the relationship between Eastern and Western spiritual practice, giving tips and guides for your own spiritual path. Excited to cultivate my spirit and my head.
Karma and Reincarnation, Paramhansa Yogananda. I’ve never read anything by this teacher until today. His writing is clear and lucid. He gives the impression of a true spiritual teacher, invigorating that “open and flowing” feeling inside you. I’m excited for reading this book as well. From the bits I’ve already read, it seems like a summative and modern version of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, talking about reincarnation, karma, life and death. Sounds very much like a Buddhist when he says, (paraphrasing): your life could end on this world in any instant, why do you not dedicate yourself to your true spiritual path, to God? Or, in other words… enlightenment! Our life here is precious, let’s make the best of it.
Here’s to a good end-of-summer reading list. Cheers!
